Letter from the Director of Concord Stake Public Affairs

Dear Concord Stake Members and Friends,

I had a great experience yesterday as I had the opportunity to meet with Richmond, CA Mayor, Gayle McLaughlin. Mayor McLaughlin was a kind and cordial host. Her office is located in a beautiful facility at the Richmond Civic Center. I wanted to reach out to Mayor McLaughlin to extend the hand of friendship and inform her of the LDS presence in Richmond and the surrounding communities. It was fun to meet with her and become acquainted.

The neat thing for me was to be able to ask the question… “What can we do to help?” and offer our service for this year’s Helping Hands project. I shared the thought with Mayor McLaughlin, and she agreed, that when we give service we have a positive, elevating influence on everyone and everything we touch as we serve. I expressed to her that we would like to make a contribution to the community and people of Richmond. She happily accepted the offer.

I will keep you all posted as things progress and encourage you to keep the morning and midday of Saturday, April 26th open so we can gather together and make a positive difference in the community of Richmond. There may still be other projects that develop so I will be sure to keep you posted on them as well.

One last note… I want all of you to know how blessed and privileged I feel to work in the calling of public affairs. I love and appreciate all of you for the selfless service you have given during Mormon Helping Hands projects in years past and look forward to another great experience this year. I believe that we are doing the work Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ would have us do as we come together and serve others. We make a difference and I hope that you understand that you are needed and appreciated.

Thanks for all you do!
Wes Brinkman
